DroneMate is Skytronics' shared platform for autonomous aerial systems — a common architecture of autonomous docking, flight control and fleet software that powers every drone in the family. Engineered and supported in Australia.

- The Problem

Australian sites are still protected and inspected by hand.

Two very different industries. The same underlying gap — nobody is watching the site continuously, autonomously and consistently.

Lost to bird damage, every year
0 M+

Crops and stored grain are stripped overnight

Cockatoos, corellas, silvereyes and starlings cost Australian farmers hundreds of millions a year. Traditional deterrents gas cannons, scarecrows and netting provide diminishing returns as birds habituate within weeks, while netting alone costs $3,000–$8,000 per hectare to install and maintain.

Manual only

Inspection data is slow, occasional and hard to compare

Stockpile volumes, site progress and asset condition are still measured by manual walkovers or one-off manned flights infrequent, inconsistent between visits, and expensive to repeat often enough to actually act on.

Different problem, same root cause: no autonomous eyes on the site, day after day. That's the gap DroneMate was built to close.

The Solution

DroneMate

A platform, not a product

DroneMate is a commercial drone platform developed in Australia by Skytronics Australia. It defines a shared autonomy architecture, ground-control software and support programme across a growing family of specialised aircraft — beginning with the DroneMate Bird Deterrent and the DroneMate Survey.

One shared technology core

Every DroneMate airframe runs the same flight stack, positioning system and fleet software. Operators learn one system, maintain one workflow and carry their training, spares and data from one aircraft to the next.

A Common Platform. Distinct Capabilities.

DroneMate is the architecture that each Skytronics drone is built on. The autonomous bird deterrence uses this platform. The aerial survey drones use the same underlying platform. Each retains its own airframe, payload and specification sheet the platform is what they share, not the hardware itself.

Our Approach

The shared autonomy core behind every DroneMate aircraft

Five capabilities, built once and inherited by every aircraft in the family, with no separate system to learn per drone.

INDUSTRIES

Where DroneMate is deployed.

The platform underneath DroneMate is shared, but each industry typically relies on one part of the product family more than another.

Agriculture & Viticulture

Orchards, vineyards and broadacre farms use the deterrent drone to deter cockatoos, corellas and starlings during ripening windows.

Grain & Storage

Silos, bunkers and grain stockpiles are patrolled to deter cockatoo and corella activity around storage sites.

Mining & Resources

Survey drones support stockpile volumetrics, site mapping and infrastructure inspection across mine sites and processing facilities.

Infrastructure & Utilities

Aerial inspection of assets such as pipelines, corridors and industrial sites using camera and thermal payloads.

Government & Defence

Australian-based engineering and a non-China supply chain option matter for compliance-sensitive government procurement.

Ports, Marinas & Facilities

Cormorants, gulls and ibis roosting on jetties and boat decks are deterred without structural changes to marina infrastructure.

COMMON QUESTIONS

DroneMate platform FAQ

For product-specific questions, see the FAQ on each individual product page.

DroneMate is Skytronics' platform for autonomous commercial drones, engineered in Australia. It combines a shared technology base autonomous docking, flight control firmware and the DroneMate Portal with purpose-built airframes for specific commercial tasks such as bird deterrence and aerial survey.
DroneMate is a platform, not a single drone. It currently includes the bird deterrent drone and the survey drone, with a BVLOS remote monitoring system in development. Each product has its own hardware and specification sheet.
Every DroneMate airframe shares the same underlying platform: multi-constellation GNSS/RTK navigation, autonomous base-station docking, the DroneMate Portal for mission control and telemetry, and Australian-based engineering support.
No. The DroneMate bird deterrent drone has no camera or imaging sensor it is a speaker-based deterrent platform only. The DroneMate survey drone does carry camera, thermal and LiDAR payload options. Camera capability is specific to the Servey drone, not the platform as a whole.
DroneMate is made by Skytronics, the drone division of Cloudtronics Pty Ltd, an Australian supplier of networking and industrial IoT hardware based in Brookvale, NSW.
The DroneMate bird deterrent drone and the DroneMate survey drone are both in service. The DroneMate BVLOS remote monitoring system is in development and not yet available.
No. DroneMate drones cannot be operated two at a time from a single account. Each drone runs on its own dedicated DroneMate Portal login with a separate subscription if you're running more than one DroneMate product, each one is managed and licensed independently.
